Kiwi Can - Hot Potato Activity

Here's a video sharing our Hot Potato activity that we learned at our Kiwi Can lesson.

We are getting clever at doing this activity in class.
Congratulations to Carol our Kiwi Can winner for this week.

Kiwi Can - Week 4

This week we decided we wanted to show our whanau what we do when we have our Kiwi Can lesson.
The theme for this term is Confidence.
We are learning to be confident, brave and to believe in ourselves.
This video is our Kiwi Can warm up.
Ms Tataurangi thinks we are really confident.

KC Jam

Today we went to see our Kiwi Can Jam Crew do their performance for us.
It started with Moesha and Gail talking about some of the Kiwi Can values,
then the Crew split into 2 groups - one did a Maori haka and  the other did a Samoan Haka.
The Crew then did a cool dance.
Here's some photos of their awesome and totally cool Kiwi Can performance.

Room 10 comes to visit

While Mrs Nathan was at a meeting this morning,
Room 10 came to visit.
We went to the Hall to watch the Kiwi Can Jam Performance,
then, while Room 8 did their Veges in a van activity Room 10 looked at some Maths activities on our IWB.
Room 10 you were very well behaved and
Mrs Nathan can be very proud of you.

Our New Goal

Today we set a goal of 500 visitors by the end of the Term.
So Ms Tataurangi has put a link on her Facebook page and hopefully with lots of help from our school community we will get there!
Then we have to organise a celebration! Hmmmmm! What fun will we get up to?

Making 10 - Triangles Maths Group

Yesterday the Triangles Maths group showed me how they could order the numbers up to 10. Each person found the number of objects to match the number they chose. We had to count very carefully.

Maths Week Sharing Afternoon

Last week was Maths Week and we were fortunate enough to go to Room 21 and work with Ma Ngamamaerua. Room 21 and Ma showed us how to count to 50 in Te Reo Maori. We watch some Maths You Tube counting clips as well.

Then Room 21 came to visit in our class and we showed them how we do our Calendar Maths.

PMP Fun

On Tuesday and Thursday each week,  we go and do PMP in the Hall.
PMP is our Perceptual Motor Programme and all the activities help us to learn in and out of the classroom.
This week we were trying to do crossing over - this is a big help to our left handed students.
Here's some photos of what we get up to...

Bailee's Visitors

Today we had a visit from some of Bailee's friends from Finlayson DayCare. They walked to our school to come and see what life is like for Bailee at school.
After Bailee introduced her friends - John, Anika, Sophie, Ikjot, Caitlin, Alexandra and Oliver we sang our Alphabet song for them and shared our Calendar Maths. After morning tea, and a play on our cool playground, we did reading together. Bailee's friends got to colour in the pictures of their own book and take it back to DayCare, so they could take it home and share with their own whanau.

We enjoyed hosting Bailee's friends and hope they had a great time with us.

Maths in the ICT Suite

During Maths Week last week, we spent our ICT session looking at and playing Maths activities.
Ms Tataurangi was really proud of the way we could log on and find our activities in our Kids folder.
Some of our favourite sites are Sesame Street, IXL, TES Iboard, and Kidsknowit.
We love going to the computer suite every Wednesday.

Rippa Rugby Session #1

Last Wednesday we had our first Rippa Rugby session with Anna from Kelly Sports.
We learned how to hold the rugby ball, making sure our hands were on top of the pictures.
We tried to bounce the ball and catch it - Katalau managed to do it 7 times in a row. What a superstar.
We practiced passing the ball to each other - We tried really hard to pass right to our buddy.
Then Anna showed us how to play Rippa Octopus Tag. We need some more practice at this game.

The One Day...

The one day Ms Tataurangi leaves her camera at home and we have several huge hailstorms during the day!
Before 9am we were caught out coming to school, some of even arrived with hailstones in our hair and on our clothes. They melted pretty quick!
Then, at the end of lunchtime, we got caught in a massive hailstorm! Once we got inside some of us were giggling with excitement and some of us were crying because of those ginormous hailstones. They don't feel very nice hitting your head!!!
On her way to a meeting, Ms Tataurangi was driving in a hailstorm. The road was all white and her car got covered in little white balls of ice.
Hopefully we can use some photos from some of the other clever teachers who remembered their cameras today.
